I have been talking to my wife about possibly refinancing our fixed rate mortgage. I have been using this fixed mortgage calculator to see what we would have to pay based on the rate that I’m getting from the various mortgage companies and mortgage brokers. Plugging in the numbers while I’m on the phone with them helps to see if I need to keep talking to the broker or not.

With all the mortgage crisis situations going on right now in the USA, I’m still surprised that people went out and refinanced or bought homes that they could obviously not afford with those adjustable mortgage rates. C’mon guys, if you went out and got a horrible adjustable mortgage that is now causing you to pay high fees than you need to go out and get a fixed mortgage.
